Position Title: Executive Director

Organization: Iowa Public Radio

Description: Iowa Public Radio (IPR) seeks an Executive Director. IPR is a new entity and one of the leading public radio organizations in the country. We believe the creation of IPR is not only important to the people of the state, but one of the most important developments in all of public radio. IPR consists of 60 staff, an annual budget of $46 million, separate classical and news streams serving most of the state, healthy financial reserves (as well as strong technological infrastructure), a high profile and support throughout Iowa.

IPR comes from the three-year-old combination of the state's Iowa Regent-governed organizations, WOI (AM & FM) and KUNI/KHKE. IPR's Board and staff are committed to achieving the profile, service and scale benefits of a state-wide organization while retaining as much of the local flavor and rich heritage of the partner organizations as possible. We are maintaining operations at the sites of the original stations (Iowa City, Ames and Cedar Falls) and are developing a site in Des Moines. IPR has combined and centralized internal functions, with operational and organizational aspects of this process. We seek an energetic, hands-on leader with highly developed communication,problem-solving and relationship-building skills.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum seven years of senior level experience demonstrating growth of leadership skills; experience in strategic planning; fund raising/relationship building and working with a board of directors. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to travel extensively.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or higher, with experience in public broadcast media in a large multifaceted environment. At least three years of budgeting and supervisory experience, and demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse environment.
