PRPD is offering an intensive, two and one half-day workshop for programmers prior to PRPD's 2008 Public Radio Programming Conference this fall. Now in its 15th year, the PD Workshop is considered one of public radio's premiere training opportunities. Many of today's most accomplished and well-known programmers are graduates of this outstanding workshop, and anyone who makes station programming decisions is urged to apply!

The workshop begins on the afternoon of Sunday, September 14 and runs through Tuesday, September 16, at the Rennaisance Hollywood Hotel inHollywood, CA and is followed by PRPD’s Public Radio Programming Conference follows from Wednesday, September 17 through Saturday, September 20. PRPD members who register for the conference are eligible for a $200 discount the PD Workshop fee.

During the workshop you'll learn about: establishing your station in your market, formatics, scheduling, mission, your station's image and positioning, programming appeal, practical uses of research, station sound, airchecking, promotions, on-air fundraising, team building, and goal setting. The workshop agenda is packed with information to help you develop the skills necessary to be a successful, productive program director.

PRPD PD Workshop

Two of the best programmers in public radio will be your teachers. Scott Williams (Program Director,KBAQ/KJZZ, Phoenix) and Sheila Rue (SR Sound Programming, Los Angeles) are outstanding trainers who represent more than 50 years of public radio programming experience. Both have led stations to new levels of audience service, on air performance and financial success.

 

WORKSHOP FILLED - (Apply by filling out an application form). Cost of the workshop is $525 for PRPD members, $695 for nonmembers. Remember, members who are also conference registrants receive a $200 discount on workshop fee.

Hotel rooms are $169 for single/$175 double occupancy.
